Record Level of Tourists and Immigrants Travel to New Zealand
For the 17th month in a row, official figures show a high of nearly 65,000 permanent and long-term immigrants moving to New Zealand over a 12 month period, as well as tourist numbers also hitting new highs.

More people are arriving in New Zealand from Australia than are leaving, and that trend is now at its highest since 1991.
New Zealand tourism continues to grow.
In December of 2015, the number of visits hit a monthly high, which totaled more than 3.1 million for the year partly due to the large number of tourists visiting from China.

Auckland struggled to keep up with the housing due to the influx of people, so additional points were given to skilled immigrants who accepted job offers outside of Auckland with a commitment to stay at least twelve months.
In order to lessen the load on housing in the country’s biggest city, the number of points given to skilled migrants with a job offer outside Auckland increased from 10 to 30 from November last year. They need to commit to stay in that region for at least 12 months.
